How can I find the volume of a Nacho?

Objectives:

• Review mass and volume
• Determine how to find the volume of an irregular shaped object
• Get everyone comfortable with Mindmeister note taking

• Brainstorm:  How could we find the volume of a student?
• What is we don't have a huge graduated cylinder?
• Outdoor project.  Finding the Nacho's volume.

Procedure

• Fill a large container to the top with water
• Slowly insert Nacho and observe the water he displaces
• Slowly remove  Nacho
• Refill the container to the top recording the necessary volume.

Nacho's volume is 46 L or 48,000 mL!


That is a lot of Nacho!!!
